110. lust: wedding bands

I am seriously lusting after these Alex & Chloe limited-edition wedding bands. Chris and I were planning on getting simple gold ones, but these are kind of awesome. (revolveclothing via Refinery29)

I’m currently selling a variety of 8×10 (other sizes available upon request) prints on Etsy. See here for more information & to check out the prints. (Many of these prints debuted in this here blog! If you’ve ever wanted to have one, here’s your chance!)
108. vacation wrap-up

I had a lovely Christmas Eve; I actually can’t remember a better Christmas Eve since my childhood. Chris’s mom taught me how to make the famous Grandpa F. pralines, and I got to stir the pot and watch the candy thermometer (and eat some of the final product). Having never eaten homemade turkey gravy prior to Thanksgiving 2005 — right after Katrina, when we were all stuffed into Grandma & Grandpa D’s tiny home — I always treasure having some when I get to New Orleans for any holiday feast. And O, Rouse’s Brown’n'Ready rolls! I wish I could bring some back with me, as they are a delicious addition to any meal.

I’m wearing a Club Monaco dress in this picture, plus Chris’s vintage vest, my favorite necklace, an orange pair of stockings and We Who See boots. I wore the Club Monaco dress, which is so difficult to photograph due to the black, almost every day while in New Orleans because the weather was averaging 74-80 degrees F per day. (You couldn’t have seen a happier girl).
Other highlights of my little vacation:
- Receiving a handwritten cookbook from my friend Anna for Christmas. I’ve been cooking out of it ever since I received it, and every recipe is written with cute and funny instructions. I miss that girl so much!
- Visiting Retro Active again and finally purchasing my wedding reception dress. It’s a vintage Bob Mackie and so spangly without being overwhelming, plus flowy and a lovely color. My apologies for being a bit undercover about the dress, but there will undoubtedly be seven million pictures after the wedding actually happens. I also scored, for Christmas from my future sister-in-law, a vintage Parisian belt with jewels and elephants. To be seen in another outfit photo.
- Finishing Infinite Jest, which was An Experience and changed the way I look at fiction.
- Eating at the Palace Cafe, where I had the best brunch ever — “eggs in a nest,” which was shirred eggs in savory brioche with sauce. And eating fried oyster Caesar salad. And eating eating eating in general.

& I have been lusting over this Phillip Lim dress forever. Right now it’s on sale at Net-A-Porter, but still too expensive for me. I feel like it would be fun to pair with some bright heels and white tights. Am I crazy? Look at the hooked mohair!
107. eBay hijinks

Hi everyone. First of all, sorry for being so lax in my blogging — I’ve been traveling a lot (but have a lot to write about, so expect some more posts in the next couple of days!). Also, I apologize for this picture-heavy post, but I wanted to show off some of the great stuff I’m hawking on eBay (here), all starting at the low, low price of $7.99. Pieces run the gamut from the above warm, textured and fully lined vintage sweaterdress to a bunch of great layering pieces of the slouch variety. Have you ever seen a minidress with a giant loop at the bottom, meant to loop around your neck, also forming awesome pockets? I’m got that too. So I hope you find something you like. Or tell your friends to take a look. I’d really love it if some of these pieces found new homes with you fashionistas!
P.S. The link is currently not working (I’ve talked to eBay about it), but keep checking on it over the next 24 hours or so. It should be working by then.
