213. HELLOOOOOOO, WINTER
December 2nd, 2009 § 17 Comments
I think my new haircut makes me look really austere, so it’s a good thing that I smile a lot even in this gloomy Gus rainy horrible weather. 50s dress (new purchase from The Get Up, I am going to miss them so much when I move back to California), vintage boots with suede backs (also from The Get Up), HeatTech Uniqlo leggings (soft and comfortable).
It snowed for exactly 1.23 hours on Monday. I am going to pretend that it was not “the first snow of the year” because it didn’t even stick, and there will probably be a real snowfall soon anyway. Also, if I pretend that it’s always fall/summer and never winter/spring, I can continue to wear skirts and dresses all the time, just like I did last year when it was -18 degrees Fahrenheit (you think I’m kidding but I am so not).

Oh my gosh–LOVE YOUR DRESS.
Yay Midwest vintage!
OH, wow!! I so adore your haircut!! I love short hairstyles and every few years chop all my hair off!!
With your short hair and beautiful vintage dress, you remind me of Audrey Hepburn in Sabrina!
Wow, an Audrey Hepburn compliment! That really makes my day — thanks! xo mw
Both of you guys have inspired me to wear black tights and black shoes with light/brightly colored dresses. I am seriously OBSESSED now and i am amassing a HUGE collection.
amazing.
It’s a classic look, f’sure. Thanks for commenting! xo mw
oh wow! that hair plus those glasses plus that dress? stunning!
and thanks for the comment on the scanned family pictures. part of my reason for wanting to share those images is because i feel like people of color are so sorely underrepresented in the history of the u.s.!
Erin, I thought your photos were lovely! (Also, I’ve written a little bit about how the vintage imaginary is whitewashed here, and talked about how great Meggy is too!)
I am a staunch supporter of pretty dresses and tights in the dreariest bitter winters. Keep up the good work!
xoxo,
Gina
Thanks, Gina! My trusty grey leggings will hopefully do me as well this winter as they did last winter…

I love the little row of buttons down your dress! They are such a sweet touch. And your new haircut looks great!
Thanks! The little row of buttons makes it extra-special, I think. I have another dress from that day’s purchases that I might put up today…

Yeah!
You look so good! You will smile a lot real soon!
Hey, do those Uniqlo Heatteach leggings work like the advertisements say they do?
