219. Etsy store sneak peak, home again, my mom’s clothes are beautiful & hanging neatly in her closet and mine are on the floor

My parents took me to my favorite restaurant, Spicy & Tasty, as soon as I got off the plane. We had boiled fish in a vat of spicy liquids & Chinese beansprouts & came home and ate giant pommelos bigger than my dad’s head. I’m so happy to be home again. Last year, I saw Beach House, and the beautiful Victoria Legrande wore a huge blazer, sang ‘Home again,’ ‘Gila’ and ‘Wedding Bell,’ but not ‘Holy Dances.’

I’m finally getting around to updating my etsy store. Here’s a little sneak peek:From right to left: 1960′s plaid wool jumper, 1960′s wrap dress, 80′s victorian blouse, school girl wool pleated skirt, sheer nylon button up, 80′s studded wool blazer, 70′s tartan cape, 30′s crepe rayon ruffle dress, 90′s Betsey Johnson party dress, 80′s ruffle bib jumpsuit (!!), 60′s Rosemary’s Baby dress, peter pan collar wool dress, 70′s wool skirt, 80′s shortened velvet dress, 40′s velvet dress with mink accent, 50′s sheer panel rhinestone dress.

Most of these should be up soon at Unhappybarber Vintage. The dress on the second row, far right–I’m calling it the Rosemary’s Baby dress–was one of the ones I wanted to keep pretty badly but I think I already have too many dresses like it. Like this Marc Jacobs dress I got from Gilt Groupe. I’m ashamed to admit that I’m a tiny bit addicted to the sales on Gilt, even though I’m never fast enough to really snatch up anything good. If you are interested in joining (they post new designer sales every weekday at noon Eastern Time) please use my invitation link to join.

My mom took these photos! Isn’t she the greatest? Being home means dressing up in her clothes. Like this amazing 40′s style cocktail dress that she almost threw in the dumpster one morning.

It also means finding clothes in my closet that I’ve never worn even once! Like this batshit crazy dress my mom bought me because I begged her to.

I’m wearing it with my mom’s super 80′s bow. My mom thinks I look like a bunny in the dress.

It’s made of mohair, I think, and all of these flappy, sequin things. Coming home also means coming home to a package from the lovely Fabiola of Vested Bee Vintage. She sells the prettiest dresses on her Etsy store and has the cutest blog. She has an awesome Ebay store too! The girl keeps busy.

Yellow 60′s dress from Vested Bee Vintage, silver cuff from some vintage store, silver boots from Shanghai!

How gorgeous is this dress? Will you just look at the pretty ruffled sleeves and lace and tiny eyelet flowers! It’s my new favorite dress and I’m going to wear it everywhere and smile at everything even at the big drops of rain that give me headaches and make my ankles feel unstable.

Oh right, did I mention there are piles of clothes everywhere, including my very first ebay purchase, which was a green ruffle silk halter gown with a bird print! Back in those days, I was fairly certain I would be invited to some wonderful black tie event where I could wear this gown and be in the pages of Vogue and I would cheerfully say, ‘Oh this thing? I found it on Ebay and it cost 3.99, you wankathons!’ I’ll show it to you another day when it’s not in a rat’s nest filth pile on the floor.

Oh boy…

Love, Jenny
